Planning versus Preparation
Now - some may ask what is the difference between Tax Planning and Tax Preparation?
In short, the answer is December 31! Tax Planning occurs substantially before the year-end. After December 31 is Damage Control; otherwise known as Tax Preparation.
It is IMPORTANT to file before the April 15 deadline. Although a few souls are eligible for an extension, it is not "automatic" as the IRS misrepresents, it must be filed; and an extension to file is not an extension to pay taxes owed. So essentially, in order to determine whether or not you can extend without penalty, you need to do your taxes before April 15. A nice little IRS trick...
We can help with the following services:
| E-File | Tax Returns | Tax Extensions |
| Exemptions | W2's and 1099's | Sales Tax |
Many do not understand that the time after April 15 is not a time to sit and wait for next year's deadline to hit again. May 1 is the time to sit down with your Tax Planner and use the latest tax return in order to plan for the current year. With proper planning the overall tax liability can be legally reduced.
As the Honorable Learned Hand, U.S. Appeals Court Judge said in 1934:
"Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one's taxes. Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands; Taxes are enforced exactions, not voluntary contributions. To demand more in the name of morals is mere cant."
With proper planning we can help you pay only what you legally owe, and no more.
